About your Life Balance Diva guide...

Hi, I'm Lisa Hunter, and I've spent over a decade refining the art of life balance for busy, on-the-go women. I used to be a full-time performing singer-songwriter (www.LisaHunter.com), and was so driven about my career that after many years, I burned out.  This was due to a perfect storm of good stuff like passion for music and zest for living life to the fullest, but at the same time a lack of understanding about how to guide my goals and choices from within, rather than in response to external influences.  Back in the year 2000, I hit a point of such exhaustion that I had to stop everything and begin this adventure of figuring out how to be a passionately-driven woman without driving myself into the ground.

That's when a very wise female mentor, a fairy godmother of sorts, told me, "You know, you'll always be running until you find that quiet voice within, because that's the place that knows everything you need to know to balance your life." Wow. I'd heard advice like this before, but this time I was horribly burned out and really heard it. Plus I'd tried prioritization and time management tips, but my crazy schedule persisted. I made the commitment right then and there to learn about that "quiet voice within", even though it was foreign to me. And that's when my chaotic life began to morph into something much more enjoyable...

One of the biggest lessons that I learned on my journey is that there is a difference between what I want and what the world outside of me wants. Up until then, I'd been trying to match and please the world around me. And it wasn't even that I was a doormat, it's just that there were so many subtle ways in which I said 'yes' to people or situations that didn't really feel right. I hadn't thought much about it - when potential commitments presented themselves, 'yes' was my default answer.  And my over-committed schedule of overwhelm reflected that.  I also learned that I have a natural go-getting drive to live very fully, which is a wonderful thing and also the very thing that causes me to run myself into the ground.  The more I contacted that quiet voice within, the more I learned to know what was right for me, and also how to keep my passionate drive still passionate, but not on over-drive.

In learning to operate from a place of "inner authority" instead, I identified three skills that brought my life back into balance. These are the skills in our 3-month Lifestyle Transformation groups and self-study courses- they're easy and quick to learn, and will change your life. Because my specialty is in the realm of life coaching, I've gathered various degrees and training, including training with Coach University and also completing the core curriculum with the Coaches Training Institute.

"Lisa knows how to ask the tough questions - the ones that really land and make you think.  She also has this playful impish side that knows how to keep it fun.  She thinks and coaches outside of the box.  In fact, she blows the lid off the box!"
